About this position

Red Sweater Project works in partnership with developing communities to create affordable, accessible, and innovative educational opportunities for children in rural Tanzania. We work closely with local stakeholders to address systemic barriers in education, operating both the Mungere School and Beyond Academy near Mto wa Mbu in northern Tanzania. Our approach focuses on empowering communities through high-quality, cost-effective education and professional development, creating sustainable and lasting impact.

Red Sweater Project is seeking passionate and dedicated ESL-trained English teachers to join our professional teaching team and support students aged 12–17 in Forms I–IV (Grades 7–10). You will deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that strengthens foundational English language skills and design creative lessons for beginner and intermediate learners in speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension, helping students build the language proficiency and confidence needed for academic and career success.

The Mungere School serves a remote community where English is rarely spoken, and primary school instruction is conducted in Swahili. A shortage of qualified teachers, combined with English being the primary language of instruction in secondary school, creates significant linguistic and academic challenges for students transitioning from primary education. The organization addresses this need by strengthening students’ language proficiency so they can fully engage with and succeed in their studies. In addition to classroom instruction, staff support extracurricular activities that foster creativity, confidence, and holistic personal development.
