Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Innovation Teacher to join our academic team at the secondary level (Grades 7–10). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in delivering hands-on, project-based curriculum that bridges digital logic with physical creation. You will design and deliver dynamic, level-appropriate lessons that guide students through block-based programming, physical computing, and maker-space fabrication, building confidence in design thinking, prototyping, and problem-solving. The successful candidate will inspire students to reach their full potential, contribute actively to the school community, and collaborate with colleagues to support both academic achievement and student wellbeing. A commitment to professional growth and participation in school initiatives is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver hands-on, project-based Innovation/STEM lessons according to the weekly teaching schedule.
- Prepare level-appropriate lessons and materials that bridge digital logic with physical creation.
- Teach programming using Scratch, MIT App Inventor, and MakeCode (specifically for Micro:bit).
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot maker-space equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
- Guide students through the Design Thinking process, from ideation to prototyping.
- Assist with test writing, marking, and entering grades into the school system.
- Work with all other teachers in the department to provide the best level of education in accordance with the professional standards expected in the school.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and Academic Support to support students' academic and pastoral needs.

- Promote a positive school culture through collaboration with colleagues, participation in departmental and school-wide initiatives, meetings, and professional development.
- Maintain a safety mindset by following workshop safety protocols and helping teenagers develop these habits.
- Be comfortable failing forward alongside students when code or builds do not work the first time.
- Contribute to curriculum development, cross-curricular maker projects, and leadership activities within the school.
- Maintain professional dialogue to share ideas and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Participate actively in extracurricular activities, demonstrating commitment to the whole-child approach.
- Support the effective and efficient operation of the school by undertaking additional duties as requested by school leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education (Computer Science/STEM focus), Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Scratch, MIT App Inventor, and MakeCode (Micro:bit).
- Proven experience in the maker space, including operating and troubleshooting equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
- Ability to guide students through the Design Thinking process, from ideation to prototyping.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience with assessment design, grading, and tracking student progress.
- Enthusiasm for education, collaboration, and ongoing professional growth.
