Role Overview
The Early Years Head Teacher is a founding academic role responsible for building and leading the Early Years programme (N–K2) while also serving as a homeroom teacher during the school year. From the pre-opening phase through school launch, this role focuses on:
- Designing and setting up Early Years academic and classroom systems
- Translating the school’s philosophy into daily Early Years practice
- Teaching and modeling high-quality Early Years instruction
- Supporting teacher preparation and ensuring consistency across Early Years classrooms

Responsibilities
- Early Years programme & system design
- Design and implement an Early Years academic framework aligned with UK-based EY approaches and the school’s philosophy
- Develop curriculum structures, including unit themes and learning progressions, daily routines and classroom systems, and play-based and inquiry-based learning experiences
- Create teacher-ready materials such as unit plans, sample lessons, observation and assessment tools, and documentation and reporting templates
- Ensure alignment between curriculum, assessment, classroom practice, and child development principles
- Classroom teaching & practice
- Lead playgroups and summer camp in the 2026–27 academic year
- Serve as a N / K1 / K2 homeroom teacher during the 2027–28 academic year
- Model play-based learning, language-rich interactions, executive function and self-regulation support, and positive behaviour guidance
- Create a classroom environment that promotes psychological safety, confidence, independence, curiosity, and joy in learning
- Teacher support & collaboration
- Support onboarding and guidance of Early Years teachers and teaching assistants
- Set clear expectations for classroom routines, planning, and documentation
- Provide instructional guidance and informal coaching to ensure consistency across Early Years classes
- Foster a reflective, child-centered professional culture within the Early Years team
- Student wellbeing & safeguarding
- Support implementation of student wellbeing and safeguarding practices in Early Years
- Maintain accurate student observation and welfare records
- Ensure daily routines support children’s emotional safety and development
- Parent engagement
- Communicate effectively with parents about child development, learning approaches, classroom routines, and expectations
- Support parent orientations, workshops, and Early Years activities
Requirements
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Early Years homeroom teacher
- Strong understanding of Early Years pedagogy and child development
- Experience designing or adapting curriculum and classroom systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with UK-based Early Years frameworks
Preferred
- Experience in international or bilingual school settings
- Experience mentoring or supporting other teachers
- Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum
