Contract and working conditions

ECC offers one of the most progressive contract packages among English conversation schools in Japan. We are a supportive, reliable employer and many teachers join ECC from other schools. While some schools require a 40-hour workweek for a similar salary, ECC offers a 35-hour workweek, more vacation, and comprehensive training.

Recruitment sessions and start dates

ECC is focusing on the following recruitment session locations for positions starting mid 2026 and beyond (various start dates throughout 2026 and early 2027). Sessions include an overview of ECC, a teaching role play, an English proficiency test, and an interview.

  • Canada — Toronto: Recruitment sessions are held each month for positions starting mid 2026 and beyond. US residents able/willing to attend a Toronto session are welcome to apply year-round.
  • USA: In-person recruitment sessions will be held in select cities in late May 2026 (locations to be announced).
  • UK: In-person recruitment sessions in April for positions starting in Japan September 2026 and beyond:
    • Manchester — April 10, 11
    • London — April 14, 15, 17, 18
