Position Summary

Amideast seeks professional English Language Instructors to deliver high-quality general and specialized American English instruction for military personnel as part of a U.S.-government–funded Military English Language Training (ELT) Program in Jordan. Instructors deliver intensive classroom-based instruction, assess student progress, provide academic counseling, and maintain required documentation in accordance with program standards. This position operates in a structured military training environment and requires professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver English language instruction based on the approved ELT curriculum (e.g., Defense Language Institute English Language Center or equivalent) in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Prepare and execute lesson plans tailored to student needs, proficiency levels, and course goals.
  • Assign, evaluate, and provide feedback on homework, quizzes, and assessments.
  • Assess students through formative and summative methods.
  • Track, document, and report student attendance, performance, and academic progress in required student records.
  • Provide feedback, academic counseling, and remedial support to students needing additional instruction.
  • Participate in instructor meetings, professional development, and reporting as directed.
  • Design and adapt supplementary instructional materials as needed to support curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Apply sound ESL/EFL methodology to support student development and prepare them for required English proficiency testing and progression standards.
  • Adhere to program, cultural, and professional standards appropriate to a military training environment, maintaining professional instructor–student relationships and complying with all program requirements.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Daily assignments are set for instructors Sunday through Thursday. A duty day includes instruction, lesson preparation, student support, documentation, and meetings. Instruction takes place at designated training facilities; instructors must be present on site as required, with transportation provided by Amideast to and from the sites. Travel, housing arrangements, and necessary security coordination are provided.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and commitment to program objectives.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing, test preparation, and performance-based assessment.
  • Master’s degree or graduate-level coursework in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline is highly valued.
