About this position

The TEACH Fellowship (Teach English Abroad and Change Happens), launched in 2023 by the Association of International Cultural and Educational Exchange Taiwan (AICEE), invites passionate teachers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States to teach in K-12 schools across Taiwan. The program aims to create a bilingual and culturally immersive learning environment, improve students’ English skills, and promote global cultural exchange. Fellows collaborate with local educators to develop innovative curricula and effective teaching methods that enrich cross-cultural understanding and benefit both teachers and local communities.

Benefits
  • Monthly stipend: ranging from $2,000 to a limited number at $2,800 depending on level of experience and public or private placement.
  • Flight reimbursement: maximum reimbursement for single/return trips of flight tickets is capped at NT$40,000 (approx. US$1,290) each trip, based on actual receipts.
  • Insurance: National Health Insurance (NHI); medical insurance with up to $20,000 reimbursement; hospitalization insurance with fixed upper amount depending on occurrence.
  • Cross-cultural activities: educational visits, lectures, and other activities are provided.
  • Housing: AICEE assists recipients in finding housing in Taiwan upon request. Rent is included in the monthly stipend.
  • Visa: AICEE provides visa instructions.
  • Airport pick-up: arranged upon request.
  • Administrative support: AICEE assists with pre-arrival preparations and consultations, provides guidance for adapting to life in Taiwan, and acts as a communication bridge between fellows and schools.

Note: Exchange rates are calculated based on the date of purchase. Reimbursement is provided on arrival in Taiwan.

Eligibility
  • Strong interest in Taiwan or a career teaching English to speakers of other languages.
  • Native English speaker and citizen (as shown on passport) of one of the following: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand.
  • Education: Degree must be from a university recognized by Taiwan and received before arrival in Taiwan.
  • Academic requirements: Master's degree or above, or Bachelor’s degree plus two years total of general work experience.
  • Teaching qualifications: State teaching license in any subject, or one year of total teaching experience at K-12 schools plus a degree in education, English, or a related field with 120+ hours of related coursework, or a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate approved by an accredited university. Distance learning cannot exceed two-thirds of the course hours.
Application — Required Documents
  • Complete TEACH Fellowship Program online application form.
  • Degree certificate/transcripts: image file (jpg, jpeg, png) of diploma or certified transcript. Applicants with five or fewer years of teaching experience must also submit authenticated transcripts.
  • State-issued teaching license/certificate or other proof of qualification.
  • Current résumé or CV.
  • Personal statement (700–1000 words): about you, how your background and interests relate to your decision to apply, career goals, objectives you wish to accomplish during your time in Taiwan, and other relevant personal information.
  • Statement of purpose (700–1000 words): about teaching, reasons for applying to teach in Taiwan, why you are a good fit for the program, your teaching perspective and philosophy, and other relevant information.
  • Teaching demonstration video: 4–5 minutes in length (submissions over 5 minutes may not be evaluated). Include a method demonstration of a specific topic, concept, or skill to show teaching style, logic, skills, and strategies.
  • Recommendation letters: register one recommender's name and contact information through the "Recommender Registration" section of the online application. Two recommenders are preferred. AICEE will contact recommenders directly for applicants it wishes to consider for a fellowship.
Application Timeline
  • Early December 2025: Online application opens.
  • March 13, 2026: Soft deadline.
  • March 2026–July 2026: Applications accepted and fellowship recipients announced by AICEE.
  • July 31, 2026: Final deadline to submit applications.
