Student Academic Counselor and University Advisor

Burao Academy of Science and Technology (BAOSAT) is seeking a motivated, energetic, and service-minded individual to serve as a Student Academic Counselor and University Preparation Advisor for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Location: Burao, Somaliland

Assignment: 2026-2027 school year (10-month assignment)

This position is ideal for a recent graduate, aspiring educator, counselor, university advisor, or young professional who wants to gain international experience while helping talented students prepare for university and future careers.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support high school students academically and personally
• Assist students with university and scholarship research
• Help students prepare university applications, essays, personal statements, and resumes
• Support students preparing for SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo English Test, and other admissions requirements
• Coordinate with volunteers and mentors assisting students with university and scholarship applications
• Help students explore international university opportunities and career pathways
• Assist with maintaining university admissions and scholarship databases
• Participate in campus life and contribute to a positive boarding school environment

What We Are Looking For

• Strong English communication and writing skills
• Interest in education, youth development, counseling, university admissions, or international education
• Positive attitude, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Passion for helping young people achieve their educational goals
• Willingness to live on campus and engage with students as a mentor and role model
