Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced ESL Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in teaching English as a Second Language and the ability to engage and support students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. You will design and deliver dynamic, level-appropriate lessons that promote language acquisition, build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will inspire students to reach their full potential, contribute actively to the school community, and collaborate with colleagues to support both academic achievement and student wellbeing. A commitment to professional growth and participation in school initiatives is essential.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Teach ESL up to 22 periods per week.
• Prepare level-appropriate lessons and materials for all scheduled classes.
• Assist in test writing, marking, and entering grades into the school MS.
• Be able to nominate skills or interests that may enrich the school's menu of elective courses.
• Work with all other teachers in the department to provide the best level of education in accordance with the professional standards expected in the school.
• Collaborate with the Head of Department, Academic Support, and counseling services to support students' academic and pastoral needs.

School and Departmental Contributions

• Promote a positive school culture through collaboration with colleagues, participation in departmental and school-wide initiatives, meetings, and professional development.
• Contribute to curriculum development, cross-curricular projects, and leadership activities within the school.
• Maintain professional dialogue to share ideas and best practices in teaching and learning.
• Participate actively in extracurricular activities, demonstrating commitment to the whole-child approach.
• Support the effective and efficient operation of the school by undertaking additional duties as requested by school leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Education, Linguistics, CELTA, or equivalent.
• Proven experience teaching ESL at the secondary level (Grades 7-12).
• Strong understanding of language acquisition and differentiated instruction for ESL learners.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Experience with assessment design, grading, and tracking student progress.
• Enthusiastic about education, collaboration, and ongoing professional growth.
