Secondary Chinese Department Head
About this position
Norwich International School Bangkok is seeking an experienced and dynamic Secondary Chinese Teacher (Head) to lead the development of our Chinese Department and deliver high-quality Chinese language instruction to secondary students. August start.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chinese, Education, or a related field
- Recognised teaching qualification/licence
- Proven experience teaching Chinese at the secondary level
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge Secondary curriculum is preferred
- Experience with or knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme will be an advantage
- Experience leading a department or coordinating a Chinese programme is highly desirable
- Experience in developing, reviewing, and enhancing Chinese language curricula and schemes of work
- Ability to prepare students for HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) examinations is highly desirable
- Excellent English communication and leadership skills
- Passion for teaching, curriculum development, and student success
Responsibilities
- Lead the Secondary Chinese Department and support the school's Chinese language programme
- Teach Chinese to secondary students using engaging and effective teaching strategies
- Develop, review, implement, and continuously improve the Chinese curriculum and schemes of work in line with international standards
- Design learning resources and assessments that promote student achievement
- Prepare students for HSK examinations where appropriate
- Mentor and support Chinese teaching staff
- Monitor student progress and ensure high academic standards
- Work collaboratively with school leadership, colleagues, students, and parents
- Participate actively in school events and professional development
