Public School English Teacher Hanoi Vietnam

Washington English Center is recruiting excellent full-time public school English teachers for its public schools partnership program in Hanoi and Hung Yen city, Vietnam.

We are accepting teachers from outside Vietnam as well as teachers already in Vietnam. If you are outside Vietnam, we will assist with sponsorship to enter the country.

We are looking for dedicated and passionate teachers to join our native speaker teaching team and continue our successful and exciting public schools partnership program.

Our partnership program has been running for ten years, and we are currently recruiting teachers for the 2026-2027 school year (August 2026 to May 2027). Teachers will be assigned to different public school partnership programs in Ha Noi and Hung Yen city. Students are 6 to 17 years old, including primary students (grades 1 to 5), middle school students (grades 6 to 9), and high school students (grades 10 to 12). Teachers are placed at one of the three school levels depending on qualifications and preferences.

Class sizes vary from 35 to 45 students, and there is always a teacher assistant, who in most cases is the English teacher from the partner school. The general working hours are Monday to Saturday mornings only, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., or Monday to Friday mornings and afternoons. Teachers are not required to remain at school unless they have classes.

Teaching materials and the syllabus are provided. Teachers also have access to supplementary textbooks, which reduce planning to only 4 to 6 lesson plans in a week of teaching 20 to 25 classes. Once teachers are placed in a school, they are welcomed as part of the school community and teach there for the entire school year.

Requirements

• English speakers from the UK, Ireland, South Africa, America, Australia, and Canada. Non-native speakers must be at a near-native level.
• Relevant college degree (3 years and up)
• CELTA or TESOL certificate, minimum TEFL 120
• At least 1 year of teaching experience
• A clean police clearance check
• High level of energy in class
• Enthusiasm for teaching ESL
• A professional attitude and appearance
• Able to teach in a language center and partner school classroom
• Able to produce a neutral accent during lessons

Details of Position

• 480,000 - 550,000 VND per hour based on experience and qualifications
• Completion bonus
• Guaranteed minimum of 60 teaching hours per month. Average teaching is 75 to 85 hours per month. Expected salary ranges from 1,600 USD to 2,000 USD per month (after tax)
• Consistent Monday to Friday schedule or Monday to Saturday mornings schedule
• No deduction is taken from the monthly salary
• Training to improve teaching skills
• Teaching the provided syllabus using ESL methods
• Creating and administering engaging speaking activities
• Administering mid-term and final tests
• Participating in mandatory training workshops and meetings
• Attending special school events
• In certain circumstances, working or covering at the English center
• Regular communication with our office
• The teacher's package includes information, curriculum, and teaching materials

• Washington English Center is a moderately sized language center located in Hanoi and is celebrating its eleventh year of operation. Our English center is part of the Education and Training Consultation Group (ETC), which has been providing education services to Vietnamese students for the past 26 years.
