Readers Brain Academy
About this position
Readers Brain Academy seeks an experienced reading specialist to work remotely with Chinese elementary school ELLs using the RAZ Kids platform. We are an online education company that uses science-based methods for teaching reading and writing.

- Experience teaching ELLs is a plus
- Ability to create class materials or syllabi without relying on AI tools
Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. or M.A. in linguistics or related field
- Academic research or experience working with dyslexic students (useful parallels with our science-based methods)
Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one coaching sessions using RAZ Kids
- Teach small classes (limited to six or fewer students) when required
- Create lesson plans and adapt instruction for individual student needs
- Respond dynamically to students without relying on AI-generated cues
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $40 for one-on-one coaching
- Hourly rate for small classes: $40 per hour per student (classes limited to six or fewer students)
We require applicants to provide a resume, a cover letter, and a brief lesson plan. For the lesson plan, describe how you would use RAZ Kids to teach phonemic awareness to a seven-year-old Mandarin speaker in a public school in China who struggles with vowel sounds. The student has decent spoken fluency and very good comprehension of spoken English. In your application, indicate:
- Which level of RAZ Kids you feel would be suitable for a trial lesson
- What you would do if you discover the student fabricates interpretations of the text because they guess at content instead of reading word for word
We will consider only applicants who provide a resume, cover letter, and lesson plan. Applicants who use AI to generate lesson plans will be disqualified, as reliance on AI will prevent effective, responsive teaching in our dynamic classes.
How to Apply
Please apply using the form below. Include a resume, cover letter, and the requested brief lesson plan.
