English Teacher - Changhua, Taiwan

Rui De Language Schools in Changhua, Taiwan is seeking one energetic and dedicated Native Speaking English Teacher. Start date: January 2025. One position available.

About Us

Founded in 1998, Rui De Language Schools is dedicated to teaching English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) to students up to 18 years old. We pride ourselves on a collaborative teaching environment and our track record for success in preparing students for Taiwan's General English Proficiency Test (GEPT).

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic and engaging classes for a variety of age groups and skill levels.
• Collaborate with Taiwanese co-teachers to plan and deliver effective lessons.
• Provide constructive feedback on student report cards and essays (no other homework grading).
• Inspire young learners to build confidence and fluency in English.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive wages: Starting rate of NT$715 per teaching hour for group classes and NT$650 for tutorials, with a guaranteed minimum of 18 teaching hours per week.
• Flexible schedule: Afternoon/evening schedule leaves mornings free to study Mandarin, explore, or relax.
• Partially subsidized housing: Live in the Teachers' Apartment Building in a private furnished studio apartment at reduced rent. The remainder of the month you arrive in is free, and utilities (Internet, cable, and water) are covered except for electricity.
• Free airport pick-up upon arrival.
• End-of-year bonus (roughly $1,000 USD based on criteria) to help cover initial flight and visa costs.
• Assistance with start-up costs through advances on pay.
• Sponsorship and support for the work permit and visa process, leading to an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC).
• Subsidized national health insurance (your portion is less than US$30 per month).
• Paid training at NT$550 per hour if facing classes.
• Guidance in filing and reclaiming taxes.

Qualifications

• Native English speaker with at least a Bachelor's degree in any field.
• Experience working with children and young adults (teaching, coaching, or mentoring is a plus).
• Energetic, flexible, and sociable, with a passion for teaching.
• Willing to commit to at least a one-year contract.
• Genuinely interested in Taiwanese culture and in learning Mandarin and/or Taiwanese.
