Elementary English Teacher in Sejong

We're new and growing faster than expected, so we need another teacher to keep class sizes manageable. I am posting this myself, and I handle the curriculum and teacher management.

Visa

Salary

• 2.5 million KRW+/month, negotiable depending on experience
• Prefer a standard contract, but open to hourly

Position Details

• Grade level: Elementary
• Class length: 50 or 100 minutes
• The teacher decides when to break up the 100-minute classes
• Class hours: about 20 per week
• Working hours: 13:00–20:00, Monday to Friday (7 hours, prep included)
• Break: 30 minutes minimum daily, within the prep blocks below; timing changes depending on the day
• Prep time: 13:00–14:30 and 19:00–20:00, so 2.5 hours per day are built in
• Weekends: Not required
• Saturday hours are available if you want them, paid hourly
• Overtime: 30,000 KRW/hour for anything outside normal hours, such as camps and intensives

Benefits

• Vacation: 2 weeks paid, one week in summer and one week in winter; the academy sets the dates
• Red days: Off, unless a make-up class needs to happen that day; then it is paid at 150% of the daily wage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Clean background check
• For E-2 applicants: citizenship from the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa
• Elementary experience is a plus, but not required

About the Workplace

Aria Star English is a new academy in Dajeong-dong, Sejong. It is family-run: the Korean spouse handles parents, and the NET spouse runs the curriculum and manages teachers. There is no Korean teaching staff yet, just the two of us on the ownership side.

We want someone who is here to actually teach, not just occupy a room until the bell rings. That is the reason we built the schedule the way we did. Since we are still small, you will also have a real say in how things run.
