About this position

Adult ESL Programs | The Language School | Denver, Colorado

Location: Montbello, Denver, Colorado (in person)

Starting Pay: $25/hour for paid teacher trainees

Schedule Options

Please note: Most teachers begin part-time with 1–3 classes per week and gradually build toward a full-time schedule as they gain experience and their student roster grows. Initial flexibility is essential.

Once a teacher is ready for a full-time role, we are open to several schedule structures depending on the needs of the school and the availability of the candidate.

Option A: Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Option B: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM / 4:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Option C: Tuesday & Thursday, 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM / Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

These schedules are examples of the types of full-time schedules available. Final schedules are determined based on student demand, teacher availability, and the needs of the school.

Please read before applying

This is not a typical teaching job.

We are looking for future educational leaders who want to build a long-term career helping adults learn English.

If you are simply looking for a flexible side job, this position is probably not the right fit.

We are intentionally selective because our students deserve exceptional teachers.

Who we are looking for

We strongly prefer applicants who are pursuing or already hold a degree in:

  • Spanish
  • ESL / TESOL
  • Linguistics
  • Foreign Language Education
  • Bilingual Education
  • Second Language Acquisition
  • Or another closely related field

Before you apply...

A qualified ESL teacher should immediately recognize the mistakes in these sentences:

I no work.

My boss work a lot.

And understand the difference between:

I work.

I am working.

If you cannot confidently explain these examples, this position is probably not the right fit.

We begin evaluating you immediately

Every message, assignment, and interview is part of the hiring process.

Teaching English requires excellent communication skills.

Applicants who submit short, informal, careless, or poorly written responses will be disqualified.

Professional communication is one of the most important qualities of a successful teacher.

Reliability is non-negotiable

Our students build long-term relationships with their teachers.

For that reason, we expect teachers to attend every scheduled class except in cases of genuine emergency.

This is not a position where classes are routinely covered because of:

  • another job
  • school
  • recurring appointments
  • personal scheduling conflicts

If you anticipate frequently requesting substitute coverage, please do not apply.

Our students deserve consistency.

Location matters

This position begins as a paid apprenticeship and may start with as few as 1–3 classes per week.

Applicants should either live within approximately 30 minutes of our school or be completely comfortable commuting for a limited number of classes while building their schedule.

Please consider this carefully before applying.

Never work for free

Many schools advertise:

"$30 per hour."

What they do not tell you is that teachers often spend another hour preparing every lesson. That means they are really earning much less.

At The Language School:

  • Every lesson plan is provided.
  • Every PowerPoint presentation is provided.
  • Every classroom activity is provided.
  • Every assessment is provided.

There is zero unpaid lesson planning.

You will never spend your evenings creating worksheets, PowerPoints, or lesson plans.

Your job is simple: show up, teach, change lives, and go home.

About the position
