About this position

The TEACH Fellowship (Teach English Abroad and Change Happens), initiated in 2023 by the Association of International Cultural and Educational Exchange Taiwan (AICEE), invites enthusiastic teachers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US to teach in K-12 schools throughout Taiwan.

The program aims to build a bilingual, culturally immersive classroom atmosphere, strengthen Taiwanese students’ English proficiency, and encourage international cultural exchange. By supporting collaboration between native English-speaking and Taiwanese teachers, the TEACH Fellowship fosters innovative instructional approaches and curriculum development while deepening cross-cultural appreciation for educators and local communities.

You will work alongside local educators to design inventive curricula and effective teaching strategies, contributing to Taiwan’s educational landscape.

Benefits

  • Monthly stipend: ranging from $2,000 to a limited number at $2,800 depending on level of experience and public or private placement. This is comparable to native English teachers’ or Assistant Professor salaries in Taiwan in public or private institutions.
  • Flight reimbursement: maximum reimbursement for single/return trips is capped at NT$40,000 (approx. US$1,290*) per trip, based on actual amount spent as shown by receipts.
  • Insurance:
    • National Health Insurance (NHI)
    • Medical insurance with up to $20,000 reimbursement
  • Hospitalization insurance with a fixed upper amount depending on occurrence
  • Cross-cultural activities: educational visits, lectures, and other activities provided
  • Housing: AICEE assists recipients in finding housing in Taiwan upon request. Rent is included in the monthly stipend.
  • Visa: AICEE provides visa instructions.
  • Airport pick-up: AICEE arranges airport pick-up upon arrival in Taiwan upon request.
  • Administrative support: AICEE will assist with pre-arrival preparations and consultations, provide guidance for adapting to life in Taiwan, and act as a communication bridge between you and the schools.

*Exchange rates are calculated based on the date of purchase. Reimbursement is on arrival in Taiwan.

Eligibility

Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in Taiwan or a career in teaching, especially teaching English to speakers of other languages.

  • Native English speaker.
  • Citizen (as shown on the passport) of one of the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand.
  • Education: Degree must be from a university recognized by Taiwan and received before arrival in Taiwan.
    • Master’s degree or above, or
    • Bachelor’s degree and two years total of general work experience.
  • Teaching:
    • State teaching license in any subject, or
    • One year of total teaching experience at K-12 schools, plus either:
      • Degree in education, English, or related field with 120+ hours of related coursework, or
      • TESOL, TEFL, CELTA certificate approved by an accredited university. Distance learning cannot exceed 2/3 of the course hours.

Application

A complete application must include:

  • Complete TEACH Fellowship Program Online Application Form.
  • Degree certificate/transcripts: Applicants should obtain a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college. Provide an image file (jpg, jpeg, png) of your degree diploma or certified transcript. Applicants with five or fewer years of teaching experience must also submit authenticated transcripts.
  • State-issued teaching license/certificate or proof of qualification.
  • Current résumé and/or CV.
  • Personal statement: 700–1000 words. Describe how your background and interests relate to your decision to apply, your career goals, objectives you wish to accomplish in Taiwan, and other relevant personal information.
  • Statement of purpose: 700–1000 words. Focus on teaching—explain why you would be a good participant in the TEACH Fellowship, your motivation for applying to teach in Taiwan, why you are a good fit for the teaching program, and your perspective and philosophy of teaching.
  • Teaching demonstration video: 4–5 minutes in length (submissions over 5 minutes may not be evaluated). Include a teaching method demonstration of a specific topic, concept, or particular skill so we can observe your teaching style, logic, skills, and strategies.
  • Recommendation letters: Register at least one recommender’s name and contact information through the "Recommender Registration" section of the online application. Two recommenders are preferred.

AICEE will contact recommenders directly for applicants AICEE wishes to consider for a fellowship.

Application Timeline

  • Early December 2025: Online application opens
  • March 13, 2026: Soft deadline
  • March 2026–July 2026: Applications accepted and fellowship recipients announced by AICEE
  • July 31, 2026: Final deadline to submit applications
