About the Job

Metapaht School in Korat Thailand is seeking to hire a highly motivated and qualified educator to serve as its HEAD OF PRIMARY DIVISION. 

Our school is opening a new immersion English program called Interplus, where each homeroom teacher has 20 hours of English-based instruction per week. The students then receive about 15 hours of Thai-based instruction per week. We utilize the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and place emphasis on experience and project-based learning. Our divisional head is responsible to work with our leadership team to spiral curriculum, align curricular maps, and have a voice in the way we assess and report student success. The divisional head will teach a  class of their own until the school grows to the point where this becomes a full-time leadership position. Currently, the school has about 450 students, with three classes of interplus in the primary division.

Benefits:

• Our school uses a salary scale that does NOT differentiate between NES or NNES, these are not words that we use at our school. This position starts at 60,000 THB per month, and includes +5,000 if you have a TEFL, TESOL, CELTA -OR- +10,000 if you have a teaching license from your home country.

• The position includes a semi-furnished 1-floor house within 5 minute's drive of the school (utilities and extra furnishing is your responsibility)

• The position includes a yearly round-trip flight stipend paid as a lump sum. We will calculate the cost of travel to the nearest international airport to your home of record and pay that value up to 50,000 baht per year. 

• Paid school holidays, amounting to roughly 5 weeks.

• Free tuition for one child, and graduated discounts for additional children.

• Work Visa and Work Permit obtained and paid for by the school.

Requirements:

• Education Degree -AND- the ability to extend/ obtain KRUSAPA permanent or temporary license

• Clean criminal record

• Experience with curricular maps, differentiation, and assessment

• Exceptional spoken and written English

• Managerial experience / Leadership experience / Public speaking experience

• Experience in, or openness to, peer-to-peer coaching 

• Willingness to support teachers in the division

• Excellent punctuality, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal communication skills

• Must be available to start from May 1 for orientation and begin teaching on May 15

Duties:

• Serve as the homeroom teacher for one class

• Work with the school director to determine appropriate topics, lessons, classroom experiences, etc for the primary division

• Plan extracurricular field trips and excursions

• Observe and support primary school teachers

• Serve as a link between teachers and the school director

• Logistics of primary school resources

• Any duty commensurate with the supportive/ administrative position to ensure the success of the school

Historically, Metapaht has been a well-regarded Thai Private School with an ESL-style program (). In order to promote a stronger culture of English-speaking and civically minded students the Interplus program is being built to provide a different style of education. Many of our families are unable to afford international schools and it is our mission to give the best quality education that we can in order to improve the future of Korat. We need to assemble a team that can help us execute this goal. We will undergo a three-stage evolution which starts with producing a pre-primary and primary school that has an effective curriculum, behavior management system, and extracurricular support. As a result, many of the systems that you may be familiar with in Thai private or public schools will not be present at Metapaht. So far we have six members of this team assembled and are seeking our Head of Division for the Primary school so that we can begin finalizing our plans.
