About the Job

[Higher Salaries] An American EFL Teacher Currently Residing in Seoul Wanted (for March 2 Start)

Dr. Harrison Lee’s IC English Center, an English language institute located in Seoul, is currently seeking a qualified native English-speaking teacher who would be teaching English to Korean elementary school children on a half-time or part-time basis.

Working with Dr. Lee, a Ph.D. in ESOL education from the State University of New York at Albany, the teacher will be responsible for teaching EFL to local elementary school students using the Instructional Conversation (IC) approach and its methodology, as well as communicative language teaching approaches.  The teacher will also be responsible for teaching one or two phonics courses.

The Center is located near the Gireum subway station on line 4 (the blue line).

Option 1 (Half-time):

  1. Start Date: March 2, 2022
  2. Contract Type: Half-time
  3. Location: Gireum-dong, Seoul (near the Gireum subway station on line 4)

Teaching Hours:

  1. 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm on M, W, F 
  2. 2:30 pm – 6:15 pm on T, Th. (21 hours per week)

Salary:

  1. 2.7 million (2,700,000) won per month

Desk Preparation Hours:

  1. 1.5 hours each teaching day before the first class of the day (7.5 hours per week)

Classes to Be Taught:

  1. Phonics
  2. Communicative English
  3. and IC


Option 2 (Part-time):

  1. Start Date: March 2, 2022 
  2. Contract Type: Part-time
  3. Location: Gireum-dong, Seoul (near the Gireum subway station on line 4)
  4. Teaching Hours: 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm on M, W, F (13.5 hours per week)
  5. Desk Preparation Hours: 1.5 hours each teaching day before the first class of the day (4.5 hours per week)
  6. Salary: 2 million (2,000,000) won per month
  7. Classes to Be Taught: Communicative English and IC

Qualifications & Requirements

The candidate must:

  1. hold a valid passport and a baccalaureate (bachelor’s) or a higher degree.
  2. be a native speaker of American English.
  3. currently reside in Korea.
  4. have EFL teaching experience with elementary school children, including phonics teaching experience, in a school/language institute setting.
  5. have a positive outlook and energetic demeanor.
  6. have an interest in and enthusiasm about learning about and implementing Instructional Conversation.
